In a state where capsizing and falls overboard into cold water account for the majority of boating deaths, the Alaska Office of Boating Safety developed an instructional video on cold water boating safety. This segment covers the four stages of cold water immersion.

Pike season opens next week! I thought it would be a good idea to go over my boating safety gear and put online. Make sure to check what the regulations are in your local jurisdiction/municipality to ensure you have all the proper equipment required. I go a little above and beyond. The Boy Scouts motto is a good one – “Be Prepared”.
