I bought a boat trailer and boat. I have a separate bill of sale for each. I didn’t realize there was a separate title for the trailer. Now I don’t know how to get the trailer registered in my name. All I have is the old registration and a bill of sale. Any suggestions?

I have a boat and trailer that I want to sell. I’ve had it for 2 years and just figured out that there’s a separate title for the trailer. Problem is that after calling the DMV and giving them the registration information they say the title is not in my name, nor is it in the previous owners name. The DMV won’t tell us the name on the title, which is kind of ridiculous… how can I fix it if they won’t help? Does anyone know how to find the owner based on the registration information?
I purchased a boat in New York State and it came with a trailer…I moved the boat to Florida and want to sell the boat trailer that came with the boat… I was not given a title for the trailer but was able to register it in New York State. Can I sell the trailer without a title in Florida?
